RNZCUC Courses

We always advise new students to enrol in only one course for their first semester, until they learn how to fit study time of up to 10 hours a week over the 12 week semester, with the demands of a busy clinical career. From experience we know some students take on too much, realise this too late and are left paying for courses they cannot complete because they have not withdrawn within the two week deadline.

Each course you take:

  • is worth 15 points
  • is offered in semester 1 (12 weeks from early March) or semester 2 (12 weeks from late July)
  • represents 120 hours of study over the semester
  • counts towards your postgraduate certificate (60 points) or diploma (120 points)

Two compulsory courses:

PAEDS 714 Emergency Paediatrics (online course)

POPLHLTH 709 Evidence for Best Practice (online course)

Plus one optional course from the list below. The College intends this course to give trainees an opportunity to study an area of interest in more depth. Topics should be relevant to urgent care, and not covered elsewhere in the training programme.

POPLHLTH 701 Research Methods in Health (online course)

HLTHMGT 721 Health Management (6 1/2 days days on Tamaki Campus)

POPLHLTH 722 Health Care Organisation (4 days on Tamaki Campus)

POPLPRAC 702 Primary Mental Health (one two day block on Tamaki Campus)

POPLPRAC 743 Upper Limb and Spine (online course)

POPLPRAC 744 Lower Limb and Physiotherapy (online course)

Please look at Programme Options to see how these courses could be used in future towards a University of Auckland postgraduate qualification.
