Section 1 - Library locations
Where is the Library?
Most of the books and journals you'll need for your Business and Economics courses are held in the General Library in Alfred Street. The Davis Law Library (13 - 15 Eden Crescent) has the Commercial Law collection.
The Kate Edger Information Commons (KEIC), opposite the General Library, has 500 computers for your use, complete with Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.
Books that are in high demand are also kept in the Short Loan Collection (on Level 1, KEIC). These books can be taken out for a short time only, usually 1-2 hours.
The IC Helpdesk is on Level 2 of the KEIC, and you can get help there with your NetAccount and University of Auckland password. IC Helpdesk staff can answer a lot of your other computer questions too.
See also the Library's opening hours.
The Library online
The University of Auckland Library web pages (http://www.library.auckland.ac.nz/) provide a portal into our enormous range of resources and collections. You'll find more about these in Section 3 below.
You'll need a NetAccount ID (NetID) and password to access some of the electronic resources, especially from home. All UoA students are entitled to a NetID and password. For help with this, take your ID card to the IC Helpdesk (Level 2, Kate Edger Information Commons).

Section 2 - Finding and borrowing
Search the catalogue and borrow books
The Library's homepage has the link to the library's catalogue, 'The Catalogue'. (The older version of the catalogue is Voyager).
Both versions list all the books in the library and the titles of the journals held. You can get details of the shelf location (call number) of the item or a link to an electronic version, and details about the item such as year published and whether it is available to borrow.
To borrow a book, take it to the self-issue machines or the Lending Desk on the Ground Floor of the General Library.
'Library Search' (which includes 'The Catalogue') also gives access to the full text of some magazine and journal articles via the 'Articles & more' tab.
