One of the best ways to improve your poster design is have a look at examples. You're likely see these lining the corridors in your department or deposited online.

The following pages examine two posters designed by Charlotte Connell where she presented her research to two different audiences. The first poster won the University of Auckland Exposure Competition in 2013. This competition gives PhD students the opportunity to present their research to a wider audience, hence posters need to appeal to a general audience with little or no background knowledge.

The second poster was presented at a vision and ophthalmology conference. Since the focus of this conference was vision, Charlotte has assumed that her audience have a degree of knowledge about the vision side of her research, but less knowledge of the sports science aspect.
