Chronic Non-Cancer Pain


  • Pain lasting for more than 3 months
    • Pain lasting after normal healing
    • May be no obvious identifiable cause - ?neuropathic/pathological pain
  • Chronic non-cancer, nociceptive pain e.g. osteoarthritis - may benefit from non-opioid medication
  • Importance of multi-disciplinary teams and non-drug treatments
  • Avoid opioids in non-cancer chronic pain
