Hello everyone and welcome to your online Obstetrics and Gynaecology course. My name is Joy Marriott and I am the overall Year 5 coordinator for O&G and the GTA teaching programme.
You should now read the Getting Started document to find out about the course content and what is expected. All the weeks will have direct link to other readings needed but do remember you will need to use the "Introduction to Obstetrics and Gynaecology" 4th edition, 2017, Cynthia Farquhar and Helen Roberts (Eds).
There are also other reference books that each cohort site should have available for you to use (for reference only though not to take away). These are :
- 1. Contraception - Yours Questions Answered, 7th Edition, 2017, J Guillebaud & A MacGregor
- 2. Gynaecology Illustrated, 6th Edition, 2011, C Bain, K Burton & C J McGavigan

You might also want to revisit some of the pertinent information from your Year 3 course: Reproduction and Endocrinology". As part of this course you learnt about steroid hormones, the menstrual cycle, fertility and other areas that we will be revisiting during your O&G attachment.
Also remember that we have made available on Canvas the ADHB - Tikanga: Recommended best practice policy, which aims to practically contribute to providing services that are responsive to Maori rights. Do read this before you start your O&G attachment. It is available on this url

Your own cohort DHB may also have a similar resource.
VP Menopause
Please ensure that you work through this virtual patient case which is also under the WebObstGyn5thYr Module on Canvas. Not only will it inform you about this case but you will need to be familiar with this layout as one of your OSCE stations will be a Virtual Patient case with similar format, done online.
Web Library resouces
All of the provided readings for each week are laid out on the Talis reading list. Each week will have connections to web pages or readings or guidelines. Some of these readings will overlap with the readings from your case presentations.
