Library resources for New Zealand business information

The following Library and Internet business resources will be useful for your business research in future studies.

1. The Library catalogue

The Library catalogue contains information about reports, theses and other published material on the wine industry. The best way to locate industry information in the catalogue is by carrying out a subject search. For example for the wine industry, relevant subject headings would be:
  • Wine industry New Zealand
  • Wine industry
  • Wine & wine making
ACTIVITY: Go to the Library Search catalogue  and select Advanced search enter the term Wine industry New Zealand and select In subject from the first drop down box. Sort the results by date-newest. Identify a source of information that might be useful in writing the report.

2. Topic Pages for Industry Information

There are excellent library resource pages created by the business librarians for industry research particularly  New Zealand Industry & Product Information and New Zealand Company Information.

3. Key Library Databases for your Research

Use the Library business databases, rather than Google, as a source of information for your business research. You should be aware that there are sometimes limitations in the currency and reliability of information you may find while searching on the web.

The Library has a number of business databases that contain articles from New Zealand journals, magazines and newspapers. These are going to be a very useful resource for locating information on a New Zealand industry.

On the whole these New Zealand databases have limited coverage of academic material.  For the difference between popular & academic journal articles check out our guide on the topic.
