Extensions and suspensions

Changes to registration

To change details of your registration – eg, suspension, extension, termination, change of supervision and permission to be absent - fill in the Recommendation to Senate to Change Doctoral Candidate’s Registration Status form (“Doc 6”) found at http://www.auckland.ac.nz/uoa/cs-pg-doctoral-forms.

Once you receive approval from both your Head of Department (HoD) and an endorsement from the Associate Dean (Postgraduate) of your faculty, your form will be forwarded by the faculty office to the School of Graduate Studies. You will receive an email outlining acceptance of your request once the details have been entered into the doctoral database.

Suspensions

When studies were suspended for 6 months, the SGS take this period into account in setting the date for the next annual report. You need to to report on the work done between the last report & the suspension, and between the end of the suspension & now.

Provisional year review extension

You need to fill in the Doctoral Provisional Year Review (DPYR) form to ask for an extension.
Please answer all the questions on the form.
The supervisor needs to recommend (in the DPYR report) an extension to provisional registration of between 3 to 6 months. The recommendation will be made first by the supervisor then endorsed by Head of School.

The report will need to show a list of work to be done during the extension to get the outstanding provisional requirements finished.
