Summary
In this section we have covered the use of condoms - you should now be expert at teaching condom use! When you visit family planning you could ask them to show you what a female diaphragm looks like -this is another barrier method.
You will now be able to counsel women as to when the ECP is necessary and how to take it. Remember though, that even if you feel that her risk of pregnancy is so low as not to warrant ECP use, the woman herself may decide that she would like to use it "just in case". We would then provide it for her and indeed it is often a good idea to ensure that women have an advance script for the ECP if condoms or pills are their method of use.
You should also now be familiar with your local sterilisation services.
