Fitting a canvas

This technique can be really helpful with framing and finding a detail that looks good on its own.

To fit a canvas:  cropping and resizing in one procedure

• Make a new empty file of the dimensions you want.
• Check the resolution is the same on each file.
• Copy and paste as much of the image as you want to include
• In the new file, go to Edit < Free transform.
• Hold the shift key down and move any corner to scale the picture proportionally
• Hold the space bar down and drag the image around to frame the image in the new canvas.
