Summary
- A literature review is a summary, analysis and synthesis of the scientific literature on a particular topic.
- Start by working out the focus of your literature review and getting a broad idea about the topic.
- Look for 'hot topics' in recent reviews and editorials of quality journals to help you come up with a research question.
- Examine the topic from different points of view.
- Identify the main keywords in your research topic and think of synonyms you can use.
- Keep track of information as you go. Use a reference management tool such as RefWorks, Mendeley, Zotero, etc.
- Remember to reference- be accurate and consistent.
