Adobe Applications, Products, Upgrades and Education Services
Free Adobe Applications
- A suite of new free graphic design apps called Adobe Spark tools which include Spark Video for creating videos, Spark Post for creating posters and Spark page for creating web pages and which can be used to create a digital portfolio.
- Other new free apps included Adobe Clip and Adobe Photoshop Sketch.
- The iWorks suite of apps which includes Apple Keynote,Numbers (a spreadsheets app) and Pages (a document app) as well as iMovie (video editing) and Garageband (music, podcast creation) are now free to everyone. (Since 2017 - previously only free with the purchase of new iPad or iPhone.
New Adobe Products
- Character Animator (part of Creative Cloud). This desktop application uses a webcam to copy your facial movements so that 2D characters created in Illustrator or Photoshop become animated and perform and realate in a realistic manner.
Upgrades to exisitng Adobe Products
(There are currently over 100 programmes available in the Creative Cloud)
Adobe Premiere Pro has a new feature called Instant Movie which enables the creation of of high quality edited movies by following a swift, formulaic procedure. Templates are provided.
Adobe Animate which use to be called Adobe Flash animates 2D images and can be used to create apps.
Adobe Photoshop Motion (in Photoshop) can be used to create videos.
Adobe Education Services
Join the Adobe Education Exchange which is an online community for educators offering free professional development events, collaborative courses, discussion forums and content sharing as well as a variety of education programmes.
New Zealand educators can also join the Australasian Adobe professional learning group and receive a bi-monthly email newsletter and find out about Australasian education events.
Access the Adobe Creative Cloud YouTube Channel has been set up to encourage self-directed learning.
