What is Adobe Captivate 6?

Adobe Captivate is an e-learning tool for creating and editing interactive e-learning content. It can be used to create online demonstrations, software simulations, branched scenarios, and interactive quizzes.

It is an Adobe product and therefore compatible with Adobe Design Suite programs, which enables flexibility in creating, editing and combining rich media files.

Benefits:

  • HTML5 production enabled

  • Quiz templates provided

  • Graphic and animation templates provided

  • Can combine video, audio, flash animation, interactive buttons and powerpoint slides

  • Can embed HTML5 file into CourseBuilder site and retain interactivity (eg, quizzes).

         Drawbacks:

  • Video/screencast editing functionality minimal – no flexibility there. Best to record, edit and produce screencasts in BBFlashBack and import into Captivate 6 project/tutorial rather than record it from scratch in Captivate 6.
