Recite the text

Reciting involves restating in your own words what you have learnt. You can do this after reading a section of the text. Reciting allows you to check your understanding and promotes recall.

Reciting could be done orally by talking about what you have learnt from your reading with another person or in a study group. It could involve making notes on the main ideas and looking up the words you have identified as key vocabulary because they recur or seem important.

When reciting, look away from the text to recall what you read and try to answer the questions you posed in Question the text.
