Previous Caesarean section
Previous Caesaran section has become an important issue in pregnancy planning for women, as the rate of Caesarean birth has risen over the last 30 years. As the rate of Caesarean births have risen, rare complications have become more frequent.
After one Caesarean section, there are some increased risks in the next pregnancy:
- Uterine rupture during pregnancy or birth: 2-7/1000 women
- Antenatal stillbirth: 1-4/1000
- Placenta praevia and placenta praevia: 4-8/1000 women
As you can see these risks are quite low, but if these complications occur they can be quite serious.
