Cecil Assessment
Cecil QuestionMark
What is it?
- QuestionMark is a Cecil tool for desigining online assessments.
Advantages:
- Provides options for desiging different types of assessment;
- Enables automatic marking - students receive their assessment scores instantly.
How to access and use:
- Please contact Cecil Support Team (ext 85100) and ask them to enable the use of QuestionMark in the Cecil account you are using.
- Click on Current - teaching
- Select the course you wish to set up online assessment for.
Click on the Course Admin & Reports function on the left hand side.
Click on the QuestionMark Perception option in the navigation tree on the top left. You will be directed to the Perception Enterprise Manager window. This is where you will create your questions and tests.
NOTE: You will need to create a pool of assessment questions first and THEN create new assessment in Cecil course site.

Create new assesment using QuestionMark
- Click on Current - teaching. Select a course.
- Go to Course Admin & Reports >> QuestionMark Perception.
To create new questions:
- Click on Authoring and select Question Manager. Then tick to select the course name.
- Click on New Subtopic. Enter a name (do not use apostrophes in the name of the topic) you want to call it and click on the Create button.
- Double click on the newly created topic to open it. Click on New Question, select the type of question you want to create and click the Create button.
To create new assessment:
- Once you have added all questions, select the Assessment Manager.
- Click on the course folder. Click New Assessment.
- Type in a name for the assessment in the Assessment Name field and select the type of assessment i.e. Quiz, Test etc from the dropdown list. Click on Next.
- Select assessment options and one of the design templates provided at Template File for the assessment dropdown list. Click Next.
- Click Add Questions and choose to upload all the questions from a topic or just selected ones.
