• Type or copy and paste the article title into Google Scholar (Make sure to access Google Scholar via the library website. Note information about Access to Google Scholar on it's connect page).
  If Google Scholar has a record for your article click on the article title to see if the full text opens (and then look around the page for a pdf).
  Other options include look to the right of the record for any html or pdf links, and also try the Find Full Text @ Auckland link if clicking the article title hasn't opened the full text.

• On the library homepage, either use the Search Everything box or change Everything to Search Articles.

  Click the View online button if there is a record for the article, then click the link where the Available from information covers the timeframe for the article you want eg we can click the first option Taylor & Francis Medical Journals as the article we want is 2007 and the journal is full text on Taylor & Francis from 1992 vol 6 onwards.
  

   

   

   

  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  

For the same article in the Catalogue view, the View online options are under the yellow bar in the middle of the record.

• A third option is to type or copy and paste the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) in the Search: Articles box or in Google Scholar(eg 10.1080/13561820600906593)

If you cannot find a free full text online copy of the article using any of the above mentioned techniques, the next step is to see has the library got the journal (online or in print format) that the article is in.

• On the library homepage either use the Search Everything box or change Search Everything to Search Journals.

• Type or copy and paste the journal title into the search box - don't type in an abbreviated journal title

OR

• go to the Catalogue and type in the name of the journal. In our example we would type "journal of interprofessional care" (don't type J Interprof Care).

Using our example - there are lots of options to choose to get the full text BUT notice the Available from and any Most recent...not available information. If our article had been published in eg 1995 we would need to click the Taylor & Francis Medical Journals link (at the bottom of the list) to access the full text of the article.
However the article we want is published in 2007 so we would click the first option EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier because this site gives full text access to articles from 1999 onwards with a one year time lag for recent articles.

Trap: Be aware not all journals are full text online. Some, particularly volumes prior to eg 2000, will be in print format eg NZ Medical Journal. Note the 2 tabs - one to access the online version of the journal and the other 'Find in Library' to see what volumes, years are in print format and which libraries they are in.

If you still want the article and none of the above get you the free full text the last thing to do before making an interloan request is try a Google search if you haven't already done one. Type the article title or the journal name.

Many databases include the full text of at least some of the articles. In your search results look for any of the following to click to get the full text of an item.

If the article is in a print journal that is at Off Campus Storage or at another campus use the Catalogue record for the journal to request the article is scanned and emailed to you. See Intercampus requests.
